Hear me out, this does relate to honoring your calendar. In the midwest United States, it’s pretty chilly. It’s beautiful! I went outside this morning, (and this is an excellent segway to our topic today) I stepped out on my front porch and just enjoyed the early morning silence and the beauty of nature all around me.
It was funny because there were two squirrels climbing up and down one of my trees. I noticed they were the loudest things out there at that time. I enjoy that time. Breathing fresh air, getting some Vitamin D, are things that I schedule into my day outside of other activities.
Time Awareness Part 2: How Planning Impacts Results
We’ve been covering time and becoming more aware of how it is being spent. I hope you’ve had the opportunity to assess where you’re at in your awareness of how you’re spending your time The opportunity to do some time journaling to empower you with the knowledge of where you have hidden time and the opportunity to gather some new perspectives to make decisions about how you want to do things. In this article, we will go over how your planning impacts results.
Time Awareness matters. I want to write about time. I’m gonna break it up into a few blogs. There are some pieces to the time puzzle that are worth looking at individually. As I was organizing how I wanted to deliver this to you I realized that to coach you to make the most impact on your life and your time we need to start with an increased awareness. So I want you to do a little self-assessment right now:
How aware are you of your time? what does your time mean to you??
During my second year in college, I was fortunate to be introduced to a concept. It has helped shape the way I’ve thought about my time. It really set me up to be more productive with my time than many people that I know. I don’t say that to knock how other people are doing life. It’s completely possible that some people are just as deliberately doing things their way as I am doing things my way. But I’m going to share the experience that I had, what I took from it, and how I do things now because of it. For me, it all began with increased awareness. Understanding why time awareness matters.
When thinking about creating more comfort, I’ve thought a lot about human motivation. This is a topic that I’ve spent years studying.People are fascinating to me! Why we do the things we do? Why we don’t do the things we don’t do, and how to make permanent changes to meet our desires.
One of the strongest motivators that we have, as humans, is to seek comforts and pleasures. This is a biological truth oh how our brains are designed. I’m sure you’ve noticed this in your daily life, I certainly do in mine. As I’ve been thinking about this concept, I realized that there’s something I know to do. I make sure to do it on a regular basis. I want to share it with you. That’s how to create more comfort in your life.
Now, this may be different coaching than you’re expecting because I’m not going to tell you to go buy a new truck or take that vacation you’re considering. Those types of things are nice and I want every nice thing for you that you want for yourself.
Creating Comfort is always available to you!
What I’m talking about this creating comfort, is available to you no matter where you are, no matter who you’re around, no matter what you have or don’t have.
What I want to coach you on today is to expand your ability to create comfort by being willing to first be uncomfortable on purpose. That may sound strange or counter-intuitive to you, but let me continue and I think you’ll understand what I mean.
